St. Louis Weekend 2016

For our annual summer trip to St. Louis, we began the weekend with a movie.  At our hotel, the Chase Park Plaza, they were playing "The Secret Life of Pets", which was exactly what these two girls were excited to see on opening night.  With Snowball and Gidget in hand, we watched the movie with Papa and Grandma.

On Saturday morning, Mom and I went for a walk through the central west end for some exercise... but also for some sightseeing.  Mom loves to look at the houses along the gated streets.  Afterward, we beat the heat at the Science Center and enjoyed the Omnimax show.  Our next stop was to enjoy lunch at Pappy's Smokehouse, named one of the top places to eat in St. Louis.  It did not disappoint!

Another highlight of the trip was that David and Shelley introduced us to their new son, Alexander Lee, born in May.  This is was such a treat for the girls to get to hold their baby cousin!

Cousin fun!
The main reason for the trip was to go to the Muny to see Papa's favorite musical, "The Music Man". Papa sang all of the words to his favorite tunes, but Abby was right alongside him singing lyrics to "Goodnight my Someone".  She was so adorable that other audience members commented on her cuteness.  Abby didn't last through the entire show, but Sophie thoroughly enjoyed the entire performance and sang along to the familiar songs.  Her favorite was "Ice cream" and "Seventy-six trombones".  Everyone had a nice evening.
Finally, the last highlight of the trip was our breakfast on Sunday morning.  We went to Winslow's Home on Delmar Boulevard for brunch and each ate the most amazing meal.  I have to claim that my braised beef with brie was probably the best, but Sophie will tell you her pancakes or salted caramel doughnut took top prize.  All I know is that we will definitely return to Winslow's home!
