Caveney Cove 2016
Here are the group pics from our trip this year. It was our first time of taking an adult picture, which will be nice to see how we change through the years too!
Harbor Springs, MI
Went to dinner in Harbor Springs with our friends while in Michigan for our annual friends trip. Dinner was lovely at Giorgina's along he harbor; where we caught a glimpse of the Race to Mackinac boats (and the winner). The girls also enjoyed ice cream and met a crazy balloon man that made each of them hats.
These girls
Thanks to Auntie Lynn and her girls these two have new hand me down clothes... And this new fun shirts to wear for their car ride to Michigan. Both girls picked halter tops that make them look too old. Our girls are growing up fast. I'm just so happy to be having so much fun with them as they grow!

Classic Swim Meet 2016
Sophie and her team mates were crowned champions in the 6 and under division, winning the freestyle relay with a time of 1:39. All four girls swam a great race to open up the swim meet. Next, both Sophie and Abby had excellent performances in both their freestyle and backstroke events. Sophie placed 9th in both races (out of about 50 girls-- 27.2 for free and 31 for back, best of season was 25/30). Abby dove off the block for the first time this season and swam one of her best races in freestyle and her best time for backstroke. (44 seconds for free and 42 for back) We are so proud of our little swimmers and look forward to another swim season for 2017!

Swim Team Pasta Party
Sophie and Abby were so excited to go to the kids only pasta party. After an afternoon of doing hair and nails and picking the right dress, the girls were ready to go. Sophie was most anticipating the fun awards for the evening. This year, she won the" can we have a 30 second dance party" award for her desire to get down and boogie at practice every day. Abby earned herself the " Adam is my favorite swim coach award" for her obsession with her high school coach that she adores. The girls had a great time at the party.

Canoe Trip with the Y princesses
Rodger and the girls spent the afternoon floating down the Fox River with about 20 of their little friends from the Y Princesses and their fathers. They said the best part was having water gun fights with the college kids and jumping in the water near the caves. All in all they had a great first canoe trip experience!
Last home meet
Abby continues to swim faster each meet... Dropping two seconds off her freestyle time. It must be that she has made a lot of great friends and is finally "getting" what swim team is all about!! Today... 42 seconds!

Swim Team Photos
Here are the official photos of our future Olympians, Sophie and Abby Guebert. Sophie is in her second season and Abby is in her first season-- both competing in the "six and under" division at Cress Creek Country Club. Both girls swim 25M freestyle and backstroke. As our season is coming to an end, both girls are showing improvement this season and have taken time off of their swimming. Sophie has improved about 13 seconds from last year to this year. In addition, she has shaved two more seconds off of her freestyle by learning to take smaller breaths. (best time is 25 seconds) Abby could barely make it across the pool when the swim season started. Her first meet took her over a minute to swim and she did not dive into the water. She now is a confident diver and her best swim to date is 42 seconds. We are so proud of our swimmer girls!

St. Louis Weekend 2016
For our annual summer trip to St. Louis, we began the weekend with a movie. At our hotel, the Chase Park Plaza, they were playing "The Secret Life of Pets", which was exactly what these two girls were excited to see on opening night. With Snowball and Gidget in hand, we watched the movie with Papa and Grandma.

On Saturday morning, Mom and I went for a walk through the central west end for some exercise... but also for some sightseeing. Mom loves to look at the houses along the gated streets. Afterward, we beat the heat at the Science Center and enjoyed the Omnimax show. Our next stop was to enjoy lunch at Pappy's Smokehouse, named one of the top places to eat in St. Louis. It did not disappoint!
Another highlight of the trip was that David and Shelley introduced us to their new son, Alexander Lee, born in May. This is was such a treat for the girls to get to hold their baby cousin!

Finally, the last highlight of the trip was our breakfast on Sunday morning. We went to Winslow's Home on Delmar Boulevard for brunch and each ate the most amazing meal. I have to claim that my braised beef with brie was probably the best, but Sophie will tell you her pancakes or salted caramel doughnut took top prize. All I know is that we will definitely return to Winslow's home!
