St Louis Trip

We took a long weekend trip to visit family down south....some highlights included the City Museum with our cousins (where Sophie and Abby mastered the warped wall and Xander fell in love with the tunnels), dinner on The Hill, swimming day with the "inflatable chickens", and meeting Kay's new puppy.

Big Boom!

After a fun dinner with our friends the Bree's, we went to the Naperville Musical Bandshell to hear Rodger and the Chorus sing their patriotic tunes. They were great, but Sophie still hates the cannons from the 1812 Overture!

This is Abby... always the funny one!

America’s Ninja Warrior

Our two favorite tv shows of the summer are America's Got Talent and America's Ninja Warrior. Abby thinks that she is going to go on both of these shows. She is trying to figure our her talent, at age 7, and is also working on her strength so that she is ready when she gets older.

Let the Swim season begin

It's summer... which means it's time for Cress Creek swimming. With both girls on 7-8s this year, I'm sure that we are in for a lot of fun. But let's be honest: it's all about the friends, the fun, and the snacks!

Birthday trip to Chicago

This is 45....

Celebrated my birthday by going downtown for the day.... We stumbled upon a new favorite place, "Goddess and the Baker", but in my former life I know that I've been to another location of theirs (in Bucktown).  Abby opted for the huge slice of Rainbow cake for breakfast.  We all found our favorites and some sweet extras, and promised to make it back to this place again real soon!

After breakfast, we headed to the Museum of Science and Industry for their Pixar exhibit.  Oh wow, was this awesome!  I loved it for the Disney details, but also for great ideas in my classroom.  It was so great to learn about how the math and innovation comes to life in making Pixar movies.

After this exhibit, we headed back to Naperville to meet up with others for a late lunch and one more dance recital for the girls.. followed by dinner with Andy and family at Catch 35.  All in all, it was a great birthday!

Dance Recital 2018

Sophie, Evy, and Kavia in Jazz
One year of dance packed in to one weekend of multiple performances... that's what dance concert weekend is all about.  Abby performed three times in ballet, jazz, and show choir.  Sophie performed six times in ballet, jazz, show choir, DDC jazz, and DDC production number.  It was a long weekend of making sure we had all the right costumes and showing up at the right time to rehearse or perform, but it was worth it to them in the end to be on stage and perform.
