Naper Halloween

I had the pleasure of being a room mom for this years Halloween party in Mrs. Bibby's class. Here are some pictures of the girls from the Halloween parade.

At the party, the class sang a song called "Horns, Fangs, Knees and Claws", made a cute foam craft, played hot potato pumpkin, and wrapped each other like mummies. They had a ton of fun!

Trick or Treating Crew

Pilgrims Addition Trick or Treating girls... minus Abby in this photo, she wasn't quite ready for the pic! It was a bit chilly this year but they were all troopers and lasted about two hours before coming inside to count their candy.

Halloween 2017

Good is the new bad... our Halloween costumes for this year were the Descendents 2 from Disney. Mal, Evie, Malificent, and Jafar. (And we borrowed Lilly as Uma for one of the photos). We were a big hit at the Cress Creek Party. One of the biggest surprises was seeing the Shufelts dressed up in the exact same thing— especially because we see these girls multiple times a week and never asked what they'd be for Halloween! It seems that bring Mal was a popular idea for this year as there was quite a few of them at school on Halloween day... but no family pulled it off with Jafar and such like the Gueberts did! I was already asked what we'd be for next year. I guess we have 365 more days to figure that out.

New math

I'm still undecided on this math concept... Sophie is happy to please her teacher and show she can add using this technique but thinks it's silly too. Even her teacher said "I know you can do it the real way (by carrying) but I want you to do it this way"..... Hmmmm...

This is 46

Happy Birthday to Rodger! We celebrated with a chocolate piƱata but the girls just couldn't wait to dig in... these are the grins of two full mouthed girls happy to spend time with their Daddy on his birthday!

Good times on a Monday night

When you don't have soccer practice and kids eat free, it's Colonial for dinner night! Bonus when you run into your besties while you're there!!

Second grade fun

Sophie and some of her friends enjoying each other at a birthday party. I love to see her so happy!!

Fall soccer...

One week it's 80 degrees and the next week, it is 35. Got to love soccer season!

Down two...

Lost two teeth in two weeks. This is the most awkward smile. One single front tooth in the middle of this first grade mouth. What a classic!!

I predict this one will be gone within a week as well...

She lost her tooth, no really...

While on our special trip to the city, Abby's tooth fell out and she lost it. Lost it indeed. It fell to the ground and into some crack or hole and despite having the help of multiple people and employees of the store, we were unable to find the missing tooth!

Abby wrote a note to the tooth fairy and told her "it is true"... just to make sure she knew that she wasn't lying!

Family photo in the city

We hardly take pics of the four of us!! Here's one from our fun staycation.

Les Mis

Sophie and Mom had a special bonding time as I took her to see Les Mis. She was so excited to spend time with just me. Sophie really enjoyed the show and her favorite character was Eponine. I'm very impressed that she was able to last and understand this complex story... and like me, she cried at the end too. Like mother, like daughter.

Poor Spirited Mice

These little ballerinas are experiencing their costumes for the very first time. Abby could not be more excited to be on stage and be a mouse. She was even more excited to be putting the head piece on and hold the poster to be photographed and put on Facebook for promoting the show. She is loving being a part of the Nutcracker!

Staycation in Chicago

As a special treat, we decided to make a rainy Saturday into a staycation in the city. The Four Seasons hotel was just the perfect place to be! They catered to our kids with special toys, hats, shirts, milk and cookies, and all the right stuff to make them feel special. The kids loved taking a dip in the indoor pool on the 12th floor. The entertainment for the trip was the see Blue Man Group, which the girls loved... followed by a special dinner at Shaw's Crab House. Abby proceeded to order the $72 crab legs. The girl has good taste in food I guess. Mom shared them and ordered a bowl of soup!

Back at the hotel room, Abby wrote a book on the hotel stationary.... her first page reads "Its a great day to be with Sophie, Mom, and Dad". I agree.

Luke’s Loyal Fans

We were happy to be a part of the annual buddy walk to support Luke Gabrione and his family for the buddy walk, a fundraiser for Down syndrome awareness. Sophie loves to support Luke and be a true friend to him at school.

Healthy living

So proud to see our family get up on a Sunday morning for a walk/jog/bike to downtown Naperville together.

Like Mother, Like Daughter...

Sophie had a special moment today as she tried on this special dress. It was the communion dress worn by both Grandma and Mommy. She's holding a picture of Mommy in the dress. Sophie also tried on a few other dresses and is deciding which one she will wear on her First Communion day next April. Regardless of what she chooses to wear, we had a wonderful time seeing her try on the dress that is 63 years old that was worn by two generations.
