Purple Reign
Sophie played soccer on the Premier soccer league for the fall season. They practiced twice a week with a trainer and had games once a week. It was definitely a step up from the park district program with larger fields and higher competition. The team had its ups and downs but finally started finding success the second half of the season. Sophie seemed to have found enjoyment playing goalie. We are not sure if she really likes goalie or just hates to run! Nevertheless, she enjoyed playing on the team, loves being with the other girls and always wants to go to practice and games. So, for now.. we will continue to let her enjoy soccer for yet another season!

Show your work...
I think we need to work with Abby on "showing your work"... but I can't help but chuckle when I see her answer to this math worksheet.

Tootsie Roll Drive
For the second year in a row, Rodger led the Knights of Columbus in the Tootsie Roll drive for Intellectual Disabilities. He brought home a record number in collections too! The girls and their friends were enthusiastic helpers in their efforts to collect donations. They pretty much would not let a person pass them without donating. I mean, how can you not donate to these cute little kids! Rodger worked so hard for months preparing and then counting all of the money for this fundraiser. We are all so proud of him and his work.

September parties
It's birthday party season.... there seem to be waves of parties for the girls. And this time of year is one of those. There are just a lot of girls with birthdays in the month of September! Maybe some year we can learn to celebrate all of them together. Until then, it's just lots and lots of parties!!
DDC... here we go!
Sophie's first day of Debut Dance Crew, second grade. She is so excited to have tried out and made this team. She can't wait to learn to be a better dancer and dance with older girls.
Let the dance season begin!
Abby and Megan are ready for another year of dance together. I love that they are holding hands— what a cute sign of first grade friendship.

Sophie’s Birthday Party
Sophie decided to have a movie themed party this year to celebrate turning eight. She invited a smaller number of girls over and had them walk down the red carpet for a photo shoot. After playing a few movie themed games of guess the character and charades, they ate dinner and enjoyed popcorn cupcakes. And then, the girls hit the "candy bar" and filled their goodie bags to go into the movie room and watch the movie "Full Out". The girls had a great time. Sophie's other treat was having one of her birthday buddies, Lucy, get to spend the night. She had a great day.
Sophie’s cookies
Sarmie Sweets does it again! Priscilla's movie themed creations were the perfect touch for her birthday party.

First grade play date
This is what a first grade play date looks like when someone tells someone that there's going to be a play date at the Kirch house.

Last Fling 2017
Enjoying sponsor tent with some of my favorite people listening to my favorite band to see in concert— the Barenaked Ladies. This was the best show the Jaycees have brought to the hill in all of my years of the Fling. I'm so glad that the Brees were able to hook us up with sponsor tickets to enjoy this perfect evening together!
