Beauty and the Beast Baby Pics

The girls really LOVED being on stage at Pheiffer Hall for Beauty and the Beast, Baby.  They sang and danced their hearts out along with some of their good friends.  Here are some of the photos taken by the photographer.

Schuyler Sisters

This family is mildly obsessed with Hamilton the musical right now... and has been for the past few months.  Sophie and Abby request we listen to it every time they get into the car.  Sophie turns on the PBS special to watch it and has "play dates" with her friends to show it to them.  She has written a note to Santa to ask for a ticket to see Hamilton for Christmas and is wondering if he will know how to get one the same day that Mom and Dad are going so that we can all go together.  Just wait until you hear the girls sing, "... you want a revolution, I want a revelation...".... WORK!

Abby's first basketball season

Cutest team photos ever, taken and created by Coach Rodger of course!

Abby and her Kindergarten friends formed a new basketball team.  Coached by a few of the dads, the girls practice for a half hour and then play a game immediately following the practice on Saturday mornings.  Abby has been enjoying it so far.  She hasn't tried to shoot a basket yet, but says she loves playing defense.  The score of the first game was 4 - 2.  We won! So, let's see how this season of a new sport goes.  She loves the girls and enjoys everything about it so far... and she and Finnleigh ARE the tallest girls on the team!

She's not going to waste her shot...

What is our life like in 2016?

Here is a typical week for the Guebert family:

Monday - School, after school program pick-up or play date at Lucy & Grace's house, Sophie hip hop and Abby ballet class, dinner, baths and reading for homwork, Rodger goes to choir

Tuesday - Running club in early fall, School, after school program or play date at Stellas for a little while, Sophie and Abby soccer practice, Beauty and the Beast Baby rehearsals, 5:30 Abby tumbling, bath night, reading for homework

Wednesday - School, Grandma/Papa pick up, 4:15 - 5:30 religious ed for Sophie, 5:45 - 7:00 math class for Abby, 6:30 -8:30 math class for Sophie, monthly board meetings for Rodger at our house for choir

Thursday - School, chess club after school, 5:00 Tap for Sophie, 5:45 Ballet for Sophie, Mom's day to grocery shop, bath night, reading for homework

Friday - School, Daisies after school, 4:00 Broadway Mini class, dinner, do math homework for the weekend (takes an hour), and collapse from the week

Saturday - in early fall two soccer games and two gymnastics practices, and now Abby basketball games and Sophie gymnastics.... usually followed by a birthday party or two.

Sunday - 8:00 church, breakfast (usually at home more to eat healthier and save money than out all of the time), and a birthday party or house stuff before we start it all over again!!

It's a crazy and fun schedule.  It works for us because the girls enjoy everything and we want to encourage them to pursue activities that they enjoy.  Rodger loves to coach soccer with them and I am leading the Girl Scouts so we stay active with their activities.  We will see what the spring brings... maybe some ice skating or another show, but not sure if we can fit anything else into this schedule of ours!  It's no different than any other family around us and we all work together to help drive and make it work.  That's what makes life fun!

What do we do on the weekends???

We go to birthday parties!! I guess we should be so lucky that are girls are well liked and have so many wonderful friends.  We also live in a place where it is important to celebrate birthdays with friends.  So, it is not a joke that we average 2-3 birthday parties a weekend between the girls.  It has been fun to see the unique and creative ways that kids like to celebrate.  The latest places have been 5 parties in the past month at the new Naperville Yard, Chuck E Cheese, a gymnastics party and a hip hop party.  I think we have just one more at the American Girl doll store for the year 2016 which should be a fun one as it is the first of its kind (but I fear that Abby will want to have hers there too!)  Thanks to all of the friends we have... our girls have certainly enjoyed all of the fun parties this year and look forward to more next year too!

Binder Bash

Here's Abby... all dressed up and excited to read and sing for us with her kindergarten class.  She was so excited to invite Grandma and Mommy to come watch her stand on the bleachers in the TOP ROW. (we won't tell her that she was likely placed there because she is tall)  Abby and her classmates did a fine job of reading and performing.  After the show, we went for a special treat to Frost to celebrate her reading accomplishments.

Cats at Glenbard East

With Miss Megan as the new choreographer for the Glenbard East show, we had high expectations for a good performance. But, it was actually a great performance! Megan has really done a fantastic job with GE and we can't wait to see how she does with SPA and Beauty and the Beast! The girls loved seeing the cats and their former teacher at Mommy's school.

November in Chicago

What a beautiful day to have a family day in the city of Chicago... it was November and we didn't need jackets, the sun was out and there was not a cloud in the sky.  We started the day at St. Pat's for church and found our way to the Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, Wrigley Field, State Street, Macys, Disney Store, and so much more!  We also went to the Walnut Room to see the Christmas tree as it was lit this weekend and avoided all crazy holiday lines (our favorite holiday secret).  Santa was waiting for us and we also got a glimpse of the windows outside.  It was  a great day in the city.

Cubs win, Cubs win

It has been such fun to be a Chicagoan celebrating the Cubs this season.  We all know that Rodger is a Cardinals fan, but he too has enjoyed the hoopla of seeing a town who hasn't won in such a long time deserve their time in the spotlight.  The girls have learned the words to "Go, Cubs, Go" at school, we have visited Wrigley Field, and have worn our new Chicago Cubs gear.  Papa is so happy.

Little Women, Strong Warriors!

At the most recent Daisies field trip, Sophie and Abby experienced karate for the first time.  They loved it!  I literally had to drag Abby off of the mat because she didn't want to leave.  They loved learning how to be strong girls and find the power within themselves.  But, they really loved playing the games like the one pictured below.  Not that we can fit one more thing into our busy schedule, but if we could, I think they might choose karate!
