Halloween Party at Naper School

I enjoy that one of the volunteer opportunities I have at the school is to take photos at the school parties in the classrooms.  My photos are used for the yearbook, but of course I take lots of extras of these cutie pies!  Here are some of my favorites at school.

Abby says this is her "sassy pose" as she is the "Queen of Hearts"

Principal Beehler, Sophie as Judy Hopps, and her teacher Mrs. Bibby as Elephant (from Elephant and Piggy)

Abby and Molly, friends since age 1

The Luckiest

These two girls are the LUCKIEST girls at Naper School.... they are the only two girls in the school who have the opportunity to walk right past Grandma and Papa's house for their school Halloween parade.  And, how lucky was Grandma and Papa... that they didn't have to move off of their front porch to see the parade of all of the little people!! This was especially wonderful since Mom just had her hip replacement surgery one week before the parade.  She was so excited to come outside of the house with her cheetah costume on to greet the kids as they paraded around the block.  While these pictures aren't the best, you can imagine how Sophie and Abby were so excited and proud to be walking past Grandma and Papa's house.  And, all of the first grade Daisies knew to say hi to "Sophie's Grandma" too since they all know her from her garden!  What a fun day...

Fall 2016 Soccer Season

Sophie and Abby both had another great soccer season with Naperville Youth Soccer program.  Abby's team ended up 6-1 and Sophie's team ended up.  They are both looking forward to Spring soccer!

Here are some pictures of the season and Abby's team's year-end-video.

Pumpkin Carving Time

Since the girls were little, we have not really "let" them carve pumpkins... until this year.  Abby was much more excited about the event than Sophie.  As you can see, she was eager to dig right in and grab out all of the seeds.  Both girls tried the seeds and liked them... but admittingly, Mommy ate most of them!  When Abby asked for suggestions on what kind of face to make on her pumpkin, I told her of Celeste.. the "star/moon eyed" pumpkin tradition that I had always carved (and my friend Jamie even named).  So, yes... Celeste was back for 2016 and will become a part of our Halloween traditions. Rodger did most of the work, but the girls certainly enjoyed the fruits of his labor!

Happy Halloween from Zootopia

Guebert family costumes 2016:  the Zootopia family
Sophie (Judy Hopps), Daddy (Nick Wilde) and Abby (Gazelle).... not pictured because she was so sick and unable to attend was Mommy, who was planning to be Bellweather.  Thanks to some great help from our talented neighbor Anne who did their makeup, this trio was a sure hit at the Cress Creek Halloween party!  Everyone loved their costumes... but Abby LOVED singing "Try Everything" over and over and over again!!!

Off to Jail!

The troop had a tour of the local police department.  While on the tour, the girls were placed in a real jail cell and learned about what happens when you are bad and go to jail.  It certainly scared a few kids to be good!!  Others were intruiged by the food they eat (Happy Meals with no toys in them) and the toilets with no privacy.  It was an interesting field trip where the girls learned a lot about the bad guys that police deal with as opposed to all of the nice ways that police help people.

Field Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

I was happy to have the opportunity to chaperone Abby's field trip to Kuipers Pumpkin Patch with her kindergarten class. Her favorite part was seeing the baby chicks. She had a great time!

Buddy Walk

We were honored and excited to participate in the annual Buddy Walk for Downs Syndrome to support our friend Luke.

Girl party

When word gets around that we have the new American Girl doll movie, a play date turns into a party for Sophie, Abby, and 13 of their closest friends.

Milk bottle skeletons

These skeletons were a true labor of love. Yes, we may have been the drinkers of the milk... but it was Aunt Susan who created this project and made it happen for the 24 girls in our Daisy troop. They look super cute -- I mean spooky-- hanging outside the house!!

Go Rams!

We had one of the best costumes for Jamie and Gary's annual Halloween party.... may not have won any award but the biggest award is the fact that we both actually FIT into these uniforms!! Goooooo US... and the party was fun too.

Monday play dates

This is how we do a kindergarten play date!!

Grandma babysits day

This is how the girls and their cousins spend their day off of school.... at Grandma's house!!

This is what heaven is like...

Sophie just learned about heaven at RE. This response is a classic: "I will be with a husband, a baby, and donuts"

Ellie's show

We were happy to have a chance to see Ellie perform as a witch in the St. Charles production of The Curse of Captain Stink Eye. She was great!! Best of all, the girls had a chance to celebrate their friendship over ice cream after the show.

This is how I roll...

Just a regular day to dance class... a car full of beautiful girls full of smiles and energy!!

Bye bye expander

So long to this appliance--- it is time to say good bye to the expander after the 2 months Sophie had it in. All in all, we were very pleased with the experience, despite the nickname 'gag queen' from the dentist from her dentist! Next comes the retainer...

Family Tree

Here is Sophie's homework assignment: create a family tree. She insisted on turning it in on Tuesday morning even though it was not due until Friday. Therefore, Sophie and Mom got up extra early on Tuesday to complete the project. Come to find out, Mrs. Bibby hangs the projects as they are brought to school and Sophie wanted hers to be hung first. Oh, how she is just like her Mommy....

KB strikes again!!

Kindergarten Bear came for a special visit again to our house... here was a snapshot of our afternoon on a typical Tuesday as KB visited the Guebert house! We had a lot of fun posing and writing about our adventures with KB!

Happy Birthday Ava

Our oldest cousin is 11!!!!! We celebrated with a family dinner and huge brownies. Ava celebrated with a new iPhone to call her own.
