Sophie woke up very early and very excited to wear her new Wellie Wisher outfit to school today. She used her birthday money at the American Girl store this past weekend.

Tootsie Roll Drive

Rodger chose to take a leadership position in the Knights of Columbus and be in charge of the Intellectual Disabilities Tootsie Roll drive.  It was a huge undertaking that involved a lot of planning and preparation and behind the scenes work.  It also involved a lot of Tootsie Roll testing by Abby... Sophie's expander didn't allow her to eat any of them.  We are so proud of the work that Rodger and his team did!  The team raised $14,000 which was close to double what was raised in year's past!  They met a state goal and will be helping out so many local programs with these donations.  He could not have done it without the help of neighbors, family and friends that came out to work a shift.  We are so proud of our Daddy!!

Sophie's 7th Birthday Party

Sophie celebrated her 7th birthday with 31 of her closest friends at the paint your own pottery place downtown Naperville. Each girl chose her own piece and painted it, and they all enjoyed snacks and cake. Sophie and her friends all had a great time. She is such a lucky girl because she has such loving and generous friends!

Labor Day Parade 2016

It's not a Parade without a party at Grandma and Papa's house.... and a party with our closest 50 friends!  Our group continues to grow bigger and bigger but we love it. It's the best spot in Naperville to watch a parade.

The Last Fling

Great times had by all at this year's Last Fling carnival. We met up with many, many friends and rode a lot of great rides. The girls are trying a lot of the older rides now as they are growing up. Abby's favorite was the Cliff Hanger, where you lay down and spin; whereas Sophie was a big fan of the ride with the big drop as well as the Scrambler. (Which I think she rode three times in a row, including once with her new friend and locker partner Liam, who came off and claimed he was going to be sick from it!!) all in all, we have learned that Friday night at the Fling is the best night and that the wristbands are well worth the investment.

Babysitting

Abby can't get enough of her baby cousin Alexander. She just LOVES holding him, sitting next to him, and being around him!

Birthday Celebration de Elena

Happy early birthday to Sophie as we celebrated with the Guebert side of the family. Sophie was so excited to bite into her favorite Portillos chocolate cake we brought from home. Grandma made delicious meatballs and spaghetti or subs for lunch and the family gathered to celebrate Sophie. She was excited for many gifts, including a lot of Elena of Avalor items... And money, to buy more Elena of Avalor items! Abby and Sophie spent the rest of the day dressing up, playing with dolls, and wearing the pretend dangle earrings. Sophie was kind enough to let her sister wear the new costume while she wore the new pajamas! She certainly had a fun time.

Daisies - Friendly and Helpful Day

Here are Sophie and Stella after making thank you flowers at our second Daisies meeting. This meeting ran really well at the school as the girls learned how to be helpful. In fact, Abby came home and cleaned the table after dinner as well as took out a broom to sweep the floor! Good things are being learned in Daisies-- and that's what I wanted out of it!! (... And great friendships too, which is a bonus!...)

Russian School 2016-17

The girls started the Russian School of Math for the year today. Abby is is the first grade class with Mrs. Anusha and Sophie is in the second grade honors class. She was happy to see her friend Lea from swim team in her small class of three students. They are both also excited to be able to see cousin Ava there on Wednesday nights! We hope they learn a lot of great skills this year.

I like to ride my bicycle....

I like to ride my bike! Since learning to ride on two wheels last week, Abby has been so happy to be independently out and about on her bike. Here she took KB for a spin before dinner!

KB in KK

Abby was the lucky girl who was given the Kindergarten Bear to take home for an evening. KB went to a birthday party at the park, a ride in the car, a bike ride and even to math class! Abby then journaled about it and shared his travels with the class the next day. She was so happy and proud of her experience with KB.
