Daisies field trip

Today we took a field trip to Grandma's house with the Daisies troop. We learned about the 10 flowers of the Daisy curriculum that stand for the Girl Scout Law. The girls made bead chains for their backpacks and played a game to learn about being fair. All was great, though I really overestimated what first graders could do or not do in an hour.... Lessons learned. I am not an expert elementary school teacher but next time will be much better!!!

Block Party 2016

Another successful block party in the books! Biggest one yet... Probably the most stressful with last minute additions and weather conditions but it was a big success.

First Day of School 2016-17

Here are our pics from the first day of school. Abby- kindergarten and Sophie- first grade.

Big bites

Abby went to a kindergarten party and came home with this Mega mosquito bite on her eye. It was awful! She had about 12 bites all over her head and neck. She started school with a black eye! It was a bit traumatic for her and she was not a happy camper.

Daisies Investiture Ceremony

Here is the beginning of our journey as a Girl Scout family! Abby wasn't in attendance as she was at a birthday party. But here are just a few snapshots from our first meeting and induction into the troop.

KK 2016-17

Here is Abby on her first day of Kindergarten. She loves her new school and her teacher Mrs. Kelly. On the first day of school I asked her if she liked her new teacher and she said, "... Yes, she smells good." She also said that they did a lot of blah blah blah... Not sure if that means learning rules or if she was bored! Here's to a great start.

A little baker..

Usually it is Abby who is more eager to help in the kitchen. But this morning it was Sophie who woke up at 7:00 am to cut out purple star cookies to sell later at our neighborhood lemonade stand. Abby did indeed help too! We had a great morning baking lots and lots of treats.

Disney at Dusk 2016

The Guebert girls were stars on stage in the production of Disney at Dusk. Both Sophie and Abby did a fantastic job of learning their songs and dances at camp this week. They performed on the Riverwalk on Friday and did a great job. Their favorite songs were "almost there" from Princess and the Frog and "I've got no Strings" from Pinocchio. Abby also learned and loved "You've got a friend in me". Sophie was honored to sing with the seven year olds too! The directors were very complimentary of the girls and their voices as well as leadership among their age groups. It was great to hear nice words about them as well as see them have so much fun on stage.

Do you notice anything new?

Abby decided it was time to get her ears pierced.... Not only before school started but also before her big performance for Disney camp this week. So, we went to Claire's downtown Naperville to get it done. She said it hurt but she is so happy to have sparkly diamonds in her ears.
