Pierogifest in Whiting, Indiana

If you were to ask most three year olds, "what is your favorite food?", you would probably get responses such as "pizza, macaroni and cheese, or cookies.  If you were to ask Sophie Guebert the same question, she would reply enthusiastically "pierogis"!!  Grandma and Papa had to take her to pierogi fest in nearby Whiting, Indiana.  Needless to say, she liked it.

NO 40... Vegas Style

Valerie and her girlfriends enjoyed a getaway weekend in Las Vegas.  There was a little gambling, a little relaxing, a little shopping, and a lot of fun!  The next big party will be in ten years when we turn fifty... I wonder where we will go for that trip??

Gymnastics Graduate Sophie

Sophie has graduated out of the mommy and me class and onto the four year old class.  It's time for skipping and cartwheels!!

Mommy is away... the girls will play

Rodger took Abby and Sophie to Chicago for a day.  They met up with Auntie KK for a trip to the Science and Industry Museum, dinner at Navy Pier, and rides on the carosel and Ferris wheel. It was a fun start to a long 10 day vacation... though taking two little ones into the city isn't really a vacation.  They all had a great time, especially Daddy.

 

Fun day in Chicago

 Our family along with Lisa, Ellie and Nora adventured out for a girls day in the city of Chicago.  We saw the show "Cat in the Hat", which we all loved. Abby has been talking about the "funny cat" that made her laugh.  In addition to the theater, we went to Grand Lux for brunch and shopped at the Disney and American Girl Doll stores.  Sophie was treated to pick out a special gift because she has learned to sleep in her bed through the night.  She selected wedding Rapunzel and Flynn Rider plush dolls.  Here she took a picture of them enjoying a little tv time on the couch.

Sophie attempts golf

Sophie and her friend Reagan battled the heat of the summer to learn to play golf.  She complained of the sun and the heat while there each of the five days, but left each day saying that she had a great time.  Here's evidence that we started her at age 3, just in case she becomes a famous golf pro in the future.

Bike Riding is fun

Sophie has really become proficient at riding her bike with training wheels this summer.  She can start, stop, and even turn around in a circle.  Perhaps next year, she will learn to ride with no training wheels.  Abby is still preferring the hot wheel and scooting rather than pedaling.  But, she is the cutest two year old on the block, especially in this picture, so we won't worry about her biking skills quite yet!

BNL Concert

It was so fun to take Rodger to his first Barenaked Ladies Concert... we both had a great time. Let it be known that not only did he love the concert, but he also told me that it was his favorite concert/event of the entire summer, beating out Justin Roberts, Garrison Keiller, RENT, and even Willie Nelson.  Now, that's newsworthy!

Cousins at the Tree House Castle

Summer fun was had by all at the Arboretum. We played "three little pigs" and ran from house to house. Hours later, Abby is still repeating "Little pig, little pig let me in..." So cute!!
