Day at the Zoo

We took the train to the Zoo today and girls were so excited since it was their first trip on the train.  Despite rain in the forecast, we had a wonderful family morning!

I finally found the very difficult to buy 'Sofia the First' pajamas from the Disney store. Hooray!! Abby loves her new pj's too!!

The family had a great time at our special picnic and listening to A Prairie Home Companion.

Tree damage

A large limb of the sycamore tree came crashing down. It landed on the pergola which had some damage but is fixable. We are glad no one was hurt... And I'm glad for a husband who is handy enough to know what to do and jump to it. On a positive note, we have a lot of firewood!!

Is that Weird Al??

For those who remember Weird Al Yankovic from the Parody songs of the 80s and 90s, he is now writing children books along with his music.  Below is Al at a book signing here in Naperville for his second book "My New Teacher and Me."  We have both of his books and they are the most cleaver children's books you can find!!

In case you were wondering where Sophie is, you can just see her leg and arm with Valerie.  She had no interest in getting her picture taken!

Opening Night for Monster's University

The girl's just couldn't wait to see the new Pixar movie "Monster's University."  Actually, Mommy and Daddy were kind of excited as well.  Below are the girls after the movie. 

The Guebert's give the movie 4.5 stars out of 5!!  Fun for the whole family!

Riverwalk Play Date

We went with our friends Kayla, Carson, and Molly to the Riverwalk Library Show for a lunch date.  The kids loved listening to the books and dancing to the music.

Fine Art Fair

Father's Day activities for this  year included a trip to Cantigny for the fine art fair.  Rodger purchased three new items for our home, including two pieces of glass from a local artist.  The artist allowd Abby to pose with a piece... and as you can see, she loved it!!

Sophie at Annie Camp

Sophie had an amazing time this week at Annie Camp singing a number of songs from Annie.  Here is a video of their final performance and a picture of Sophie with her friend Estelle.

Happy 40th Birthday to Mommy

Happy 99th Birthday GG

Grandma Lydia turned 99 this year.  There was a big celebration at the Guebert Household with most of the extended family in town.  As her gift, we gave GG ninety-nine pennies, one from each year (acutally it began in 1908 when the penny was created)  She is in good health and spirits and we are all looking forward to her next birthday celebration.

First day of summer

"Mommy is gonna be my teacher" proclaims Sophie. Our first morning together was great. Mommy did a double workout, the girls played at the health club 'jungle gym', we went to the park, and practiced our coloring. (And its only 10 am). Lets hope the rest of the summer is this easy!

Weekend Activity

This was definitely a Yard weekend.  Rodger trimmed all the bushes and cut the lawn on Saturday.  Sunday was putting down the 3 yards of mulch.  Below is the pile before starting and 4 hours later, the driveway was clear.  With all the hard work, the yard really looks great!
