Memorial Day 2011

 

As a Naperville tradition, we all attended the Memorial Day parade.  It was a hot year, but luckily we found a great location to watch in the shade and near some friends.  We all had a great time, except for Watson who became overheated.  Bulldogs cannot handle the heat!  Loran enjoyed her first ice cream truck experience (she got a snow cone), and Sophie enjoyed listening to the bands and dancing.  Here are some photos...

Abigail Grace's baptism

Abby was baptized over Memorial Day weekend.  We had a family party on Saturday night where Rodger grilled and made use of his new fire pit.  Everyone loved the movie couches, which arrived just in time for the party.  On Sunday, Abby was baptized at St. Peter and Paul Church and we had another family party for her on that day.   She wore the same baptismal gown that was worn by her grandmother, Karen; her mom, Valerie; her godfather, Andy; and her sister, Sophie.  It is so special for us to have had her wear that gown.  Abby's godparents are her Aunt Margret and Uncle Andy.  We know that they will show her the way of the Lord and teach her to be a wonderful person.  Her godparents gave her a beautiful add-a pearl necklace to remember the day.  Also, Grandma and Papa brought back a very special gift from their trip to the Holy Land.  Abby was given a small diamond cross which was from the River Jordan, which is where Jesus himself was baptized.  I know that we will all help Abby remember her special day.

It's time...

Well, now that Abby is officially three months old and we are somewhat settled into our new house, it is time.  Rodger has packed a workout bag and will start officially training for the marathon today.  Valerie is going to start the process of losing 40 pounds... to put her at her goal weight (pre-baby weight).  Wish us luck!!

Hi sis... How was your day?

I'm 3 months old!

Abby is growing rapidly! Today she weighed in at 15 pounds, which has got to put her at the top of the growth charts. She is sitting up for short time periods in her bumbo, but overall prefers the swing. Abby is getting up only once a night but has gone a few nights sleeping all the way through. She is such a happy girl!

If you are wondering why I haven't been blogging much lately, it is because we have been very busy moving into our new house.  Here are a couple of photos of it, but I think I'll post better ones as we complete each room... which may take a while!  We are so excited about this house, which is where we hope to stay for a very long time.  Home sweet home.
