I'm eating food!
Sophie has started eating rice cereal. She has taken to it very well, and quickly moved on to vegetables. Since sweet potato is Loran's favorite, we decided that it would be her first food to try. She LOVED it! Mommy and Daddy are looking forward to introducing her to all of the wonderful, healthy foods that they like to eat too.

Ages 4 months and up

Sophie is learning to enjoy toys lately. She picks them up and presses buttons. So, Mommy decided to put together her new activity table. First of all, "some assembly required" is just a joke... the thing took over an hour to put together. Second, the box said ages 4 months and up. However, there was a warning that said if a child can't sit up unassisted, they should go in it. Do YOU know any 4 months old that can sit up unassisted? Me neither.
Well, in her first try at the toy, Sophie seemed curious and liked it. The only problem is that her arms are too short and she can't reach the toys. I really really hope that she doesn't take after her mommy and have short arms.
I do love how curious she has become, as you can see from this picture. She's getting bigger!
Sophie's first babysitter
The benefit of teaching at a high school is having access to teenage babysitters. Sophie's first babysitter (besides her grandparents) is Elizabeth Schuck. She told me that if our family can trust her to babysit Chloe and Lola, that she can be trusted to watch Sophie! Elizabeth watched Sophie when we went to see the Broadway Our Way at GEHS. Sophie loved being held and fell asleep on Elizabeth's bed. I'm so happy to have a dependable babysitter!!

Sprout TV
Sophie has discovered the television set. Here she is lounging around on a Saturday afternoon watching a little Sprout TV. She seemed to be interested in anything Elmo or cartoons. Mommy and Daddy did take advantage of this and got a lot of things done while she watched the tv. We now have an organized garage and all of the Christmas bins in the crawl space. Thank you Sprout tv.

Funny Bunny

In high school, Jamie named my Easter bunny "Funny Bunny". Watson took to the toy animal at a very young age, and has become quite attached to it. I saw this Easter bib and had to buy it. I put it on Sophie, grabbed Funny Bunny, and tried to pose for a picture. I don't know if you can see it, but just as I took this shot, Watson snatched the bunny away and reminded Sophie that Funny Bunny is HIS toy, not hers.
Oh, happy day

Starting early

Grandma Janis is helping Sophie get a head start on a music scholarship to college. Here she is playing her new piano.
Mommy has been playing the piano with her daily, and Sophie does hit the keys by herself now. It's only been one week, so we are hoping for mastery of Row, Row, Row your Boat by age 1.

Sophie goes to school
Today is Sophie's first day of school. Mommy dressed her up in a new dress, tights, and a cute bow in her hair. Mommy and Daddy are hoping that Sophie likes her new friends and teacher. We are hopeful that she is going to do well there.
Here is a picture of her taken by the teachers at school. Miss Debbie is her primary caretaker, and she said that Sophie had a great first day.
